Homicide investigators with the Calgary Police Service are on the scene of an apparent targeted attack in the southeast neighbourhood of Lake Bonavista early Monday afternoon, marking what is thought to be the city’s 21st homicide this year.
Officers were called to a home in the 700 block of 120 Ave. SE around 1:30 p.m. in response to a 9-1-1 call.
The victim, who has been identified as Mother Nature, aged 937, was pronounced dead on the scene.
“This appears to be an act of foul play,” said Det. Alex Carey. “A man was apparently so upset over today’s snow storm, that he was driven to madness.”
Witnesses report that a white SUV pulled up to the house, and a man armed with a snow shovel kicked-in the door.
“He was an angry, angry man,” says Dawn Tanner, who was unloading groceries from her car across the street. “He got right out of his vehicle, stormed up to the house and rang the doorbell repeatedly, shouting, ‘I’m sick of this goddamn weather!’”
When there was no answer, that’s when the man kicked-in the door, according to Tanner. She ran into her house and called 9-1-1.
Police are on the lookout for a white, four-door SUV, with a black sunroof. The suspect is in his mid-40s, has brown hair, and is about 5’8” tall.
